How to Cultivate Inner Beauty

As women, we often work so hard to be beautiful on the outside, by investing in our nutrition, fitness, cosmetics, skincare and wardrobe. In fact, an average woman spends hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars per year on her beauty regime and upkeep. But what about inner beauty? You can be absolutely beautiful on the outside, but it’s also just as important to invest in your inner self, your spiritual self and your overall well-being.

Inner beauty is within all of us, but it’s up to us to cultivate it. It’s easy to spot someone who has great inner beauty because their light and positivity is uplifting and inspiring. They are magnetic and a delight to be around. Their beauty radiates from within and cannot be packaged, bought or sold.

So, how do we cultivate our inner beauty, so that our outside can be just as beautiful as how we are at our innermost core? It all comes down to developing a gracious and people-oriented personality, investing in your spirituality, embracing an optimistic outlook, and developing your passions and hobbies. Let me explain…

How to cultivate inner beauty

Develop a beautiful personality

Now, I’m not suggesting that you should change who you are, but it’s important to recognize which areas of your personality you might need to either refine or work on.

We all know that crass, rude, negative, impatient and selfish people do not have much inner beauty. These negative personality traits make their demeanour off-putting, and make them not very pleasant to be around.

A lady should be lovely and a delight to be around. But in order for her to be pleasant company, she must have good thoughts about herself and others. Her interior landscape must be healthy.

For that reason, don’t be rude, crass, negative, impatient and selfish with others.

Focus on being gracious, accepting, non-judgmental, charming and generous with your time and attention. Your inner beauty will shine bright when you develop these positive personality traits.

Refrain from gossiping about others and always leave people better than you found them.

Most importantly, learn to listen to people and truly care about them.

Invest in your spirituality

Cultivate a healthy inner world by quieting negative thoughts and emotions through inner spiritual work. This can be done through breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, affirmations, and by practicing gratefulness.

In our modern world, it’s easy to get bogged down by stress, which is why it’s important to take some time out your day to quiet your mind and turn your attention inward.

Investing in your inner self will make you strong to the very core, so you’ll be able to withstand anything that comes your way.

Embrace the sunny side of life

Fill your cup with so much optimism and joy that it overflows.

Be generous with your thoughts. Try to see the positives in the book you’re reading, the meal you’re having and the movie that you just watched. Try to see the bright side in everything and everyone.

When you think positively, the world becomes not only a better place, but you become a better woman too.

Develop Your Passions and Hobbies

Passions and hobbies is what fuels us, enriches our lives and gives our lives meaning beyond the routine day-to-day. Life is dull and not very eventful without passions and hobbies.

So it surprising then, to know that so many women don’t take the time to work on them?

Don’t be one of those women who don’t have anything interesting to say because they are just not interested in anything beyond the superficial.

People will passions and hobbies are always a pleasure to talk to, especially when you can see their eyes light up when they talk about something that deeply care about.

If you don’t have many hobbies, that’s alright. It’s not difficult to get them. Think about what you enjoy doing and do more of it. Or, think about what you find interesting and start doing it or learning it.

There are so many interesting hobbies in this world, whether it’s dancing, learning a new language, cooking, knitting, painting, writing, volunteering, horseback riding, and so on… it all comes down what sparks joy inside you.

Most importantly, don’t neglect your hobbies. Try to do them as often as you can. You’ll often find that hobbies are even more enjoyable when you can involve other people in them as well.

Final thoughts

I hope you take the time to focus on your innermost self. I hope you are always caring and kind towards yourself, so that you in turn you are more kind and caring towards others.

Don’t let this world close off your heart. See the beauty in everything and everyone. Leave people better than you found them.

Because that’s what inner beauty is. It’s what you experience through a person’s character rather than appearances.
