We all want to look radiant, healthy and beautiful. If you want that healthy glow that radiates from within, look no further. I’ve compiled a list of simple things that I do every day that make me look and feel radiant, fresh, happy and full of energy.
Love what you do, and do what you love.
I can’t stress this enough – a happy life is built upon a foundation of your passions, goals, and dreams. After all, there is nothing more radiant than joy and happiness.
When you live a life that you love and that you are proud of, you feel a tremendous sense of happiness and satisfaction. Not every day will be perfect (we all have our bad days), but you will still be happy because you are following your heart’s purpose.
If you haven’t found a career that you’re passionate about, don’t worry. You can always do some soul-searching to figure out what you want to do. Figure out what interests you, and take some time to explore career options in that area. It doesn’t matter if you’re 19 or 39. It’s never too late to make a career change and do something that you love, even if it’s just a side hustle.
If you don’t want to switch your careers but your job doesn’t spark that joy inside you, you can still obtain a tremendous amount of satisfaction from your hobbies, friends, and travel.
Drink water
Drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day is essential to maintain a healthy, hydrated body that flushes out toxins effectively. Yes, toxins! We all have them. Staying hydrated is so important for cell regeneration and for overall health and well-being.
I like to carry a stainless steel re-usable water bottle with me everywhere I go and set reminders on my phone throughout the day to drink more water.
Walk away from anything and anyone that doesn’t uplift you
You already know intuitively what no longer serves you or uplifts you because it simply drains your energy. If you have people and situations in your life that dull your radiance, then maybe it’s time to walk from them.
When I cut off a few one-sided friendships from my life, I instantly become a happier and more radiant person because now I focus on people that love me and uplift my spirit.
Take some time to examine the people in your life. Does everyone in your life make you happy? Do they listen to you and care for you? Or is there someone in your circle that brings you down? Pay attention to your intuition. You might need to cut out a negative person out of your life before you can step into your confidence.
The same goes for your job as well. If you’re unhappy in your current job, look at ways that you can improve your situation or make a plan to get out in the most elegant way that you can. Save up your emergency fund, maintain good connections with your coworkers, and actively start searching for a new job.
Most importantly, don’t burn any bridges when you walk away from people and situations that no longer serve you. You can still walk away with your head held high while protecting your reputation.
Eat colourful food
Eat lots of fruits and vegetables that are vibrant and colourful. They are full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Eating them every day and staying away from junk food will give your skin plenty of radiance.
Avoid food that’s processed and high in trans fats or sugar
Eating food that is processed and/or high in trans fats and sugar causes inflammation in your body. Over time, this inflammation builds up and causes a lot of uncomfortable symptoms like bloating, acne, brain fog, dull skin and a tired appearance.
Exercise and sweat
Having a really good workout and sweating out all the toxins that you’ve accumulated throughout your day is such a good way to refresh your overall appearance.
After a good workout, I always notice that my skin looks more glowy, radiant and youthful than usual. I like to work 3-4 times a week doing moderately intense exercises, like barre and pilates. I truly believe that exercise is the secret to longevity and youth.
Make sleep a priority
It’s amazing how radiant and refreshed out skin looks after a night of good sleep and rest.
Our body repairs itself while we are sleeping. We all know we should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night, but how often do you do that?
I like to set a reminder on my phone one hour before my 10pm bed time. That way I have a clear signal that I should be winding down my night and getting ready for bed.
Laugh lots
Laughter really is the best form of medicine. Find ways to incorporate laughter into your life every day, whether it’s by meeting up with friends or by watching funny animal videos on YouTube. Having a partner that has a great sense of humour definitely helps too!
Take time to pamper yourself
No matter how busy life gets, it’s important to always make yourself a priority and practice self-care. After all, if you don’t take care of yourself first, how can you take care others?
Take some time out of your week to focus on you. Whether it’s getting your nails done, reading a good book, running yourself a bubble bath, or doing some yoga, make sure to pamper yourself and make that a habit.
If you want to know more, I spoke about the importance of self-care in my blog post here.
