We’re having a beautiful early fall here in Vancouver, and it’s the perfect weather to wear a t-shirt dress! Honestly, a t-shirt dress is one of the most effortless outfits you can wear. It’s so versatile because it looks good with pretty much anything and you can wear it all year long.
While a t-shirt dress is most associated with the summer months, it’s easy to make it season appropriate by wearing different accessories and tights underneath. There are so many ways you can wear it, but my favourite way to style a t-shirt dress is to keep my outfit very casual. Here’s how I style it.
Pair it with a denim jacket
One of the easiest ways to ‘dress up’ a t-shirt dress is to pair it with a denim jacket. A denim jacket adds some flair to a simple outfit and also adds a layer of warmth. I think this one from Zara pairs perfectly with the dress because it’s a little bit distressed and looks effortless.
Wear casual shoes
I think a t-shirt dress looks the best with white casual shoes when the weather is really nice. In this outfit, I wanted a really casual look so I wore my white Adidas running shoes. I think the pairing looks really great!
A t-shirt dress also pairs nicely with tights and ankle boots, or long over-the-knee boots, in the cooler months.
Wear a hat
Wearing a fedora (the hat that I am wearing here) is such an easy way to elevate a basic t-shirt dress. You can wear a fedora, a baseball cap or a wide brim hat when the weather is nice, or a wool floppy hat, a beret or a beanie in the cooler months.
Add a belt
Synching your waist with a thin belt is another great way to accessorize a t-shirt dress and elevate your outfit.
Or wear it on its own!
I think accessorizing is awesome, but I also love the way that a t-shirt dress looks on its own. It’s such an effortless look and makes dressing up a breeze. And that’s the beauty of a t-shirt dress – it’s a basic piece that doesn’t require much effort on your part to make it look good because it looks so great on its own. It’s definitely a closet staple in my book!
