Mom jeans have made a comeback because 90’s fashion is all the rage right now. Even though they’re very popular, mom jeans can be hard to pull off because sometimes they give the dreaded “pancake butt” effect which is not flattering. But even though they’re harder to style than regular jeans, there are ways you can pull them off! Here are my tips for how to look good in mom jeans.
Pay attention to how the jeans fit
Not all mom jeans are created equal, so you need to be very picky about how the jeans fit before you buy them. Don’t purchase mom jeans that are too loose around the waist because it will make you look heavier than you really are. Choose a pair that has a higher rise so that it cinches the smallest part of your waist. Also, pay attention to pocket placement on the butt area. I recommend buying jeans with larger pockets because larger pockets accentuate the butt, making it look rounder and well-shaped.
Emphasize your curves by highlighting your waist
Wear mom jeans that sit higher on the waist so that you can cinch your waist with a thin leather belt. Belts look fantastic with mom jeans because they highlight the waist and accentuate your curves, giving you a more hourglass shape. I think it’s best to always go for a more fitted look if you want your mom jeans to look stylish and modern.
Choose denim in a light colour
I think mom jeans look best in a lighter colour because lighter denim highlights the butt better than darker denim. So whenever possible, wear these in a light colour if you want to look good in mom jeans.
Mom jeans look really good with high heels because they lift up the butt and elongate the legs, making everything look longer and sleeker. In these photos, I paired mine with simple pointed toe heels for a classic look. There’s nothing too “mom” about this outfit and that’s why it works so well!
